Jonah Matranga comes to 229 to celebrate ‘Halfway To A Hundred’.
As well as this being around his 50th Birthday, Jonah’s next release will be called HALFWAY TO A HUNDRED. It’ll be 25 songs from the last 25 years of his life, and 25 new ones. Between writing/recording ‘ALONE REWINDING: 23 YEARS OF FATHERHOOD & MUSIC’ recently, and doing the ‘WATER & SOLUTIONS’ 20th anniversary stuff last year, he has thought a lot about everything that led to where he is now, and what he wants to do next. Along the way, a ton of new tunes have built up, and this feels like a fun way to release all of it, celebrating the past and the future at the same time and launching a Kickstarter for it on June 11, two months before the big 5-0.
The H2H project will be a very communal affair. In the Kickstarter, people will be able to vote on which old tunes (from all the bands) to revisit, and there will be plenty of crowd collaboration during the whole creative process. Similarly, the shows this year will be especially full of special guests (people from bands and friends) with solo and band sets and everything in between.
