Satoria was formed in London in 2016 when Simon O’Keeffe met with Oswaldo Santos and Ecem Uzgor. After a year of searching and collaborating with other musicians they found what they were looking, when they met and played with Bora Bekiroglu and Rudy Levis. The concept behind Satoria is inspired by Simon’s long time study of Buddhism, yoga and Chinese martial arts. He had a vision of a place called Satoria, a utopia where humans transcend labels of race, class and background to find oneness. He grew up in a multi cultural part of London and saw how music could bring people together, bring people back to the moment, The members of the band reflect this, coming from Europe, Africa and Asia. Satoria combines the influences of Rock, progressive, Jazz, Folk and World music.
Satori is an awakening, seeing into ones true nature. Satoria is a vision of a place, a utopia, where everyone is working towards this. Music is the vehicle, a way to realise and actualise this. Satoria is a band that transcends labels through music, to find oneness in the moment, a connection to a higher source.
